Mother-in-law’s is a diabetic?

Tracy asked:

The is for Gary B….although I deeply appreciate your answer to my question….that’s exactly what it was a question. NO I did not make this call. I am a medication aide NOT a doctor. You see my mother-in-law is a doctor and a medication seeker. I simply feel she might not need the Lantus. I am aware that Lantus is a slow (not to mention very powerful) insulin. She tests her sugar 4 times a day but was taught “back in the day” to test AFTER meals. I have tried to instruct her to do a fasting sugar check in the mornings and then check her sugar again 5 to 10 minutes before meals. She refuses. She was told 30 some odd years ago she was a type 2 diabetic. She is now 88 yrs old and I feel should not be on the Lantus but rather a regular insulin and maybe a sliding scale. Do not mistake, please, that i have made this call, as I have not.

Thank you,
Tracy
