i was diagnosed 3 years ago (type 1) and they gave me potassium pills for low levels. it only lasted a while though, like a week while i was being diagnosed. anyway, they only tested my levels because i had diabetes, so they are linked somehow. it was easily corrected though, with the pills.

I would not be worried about a 3.3 potassium, normal is about 3.5, unless it is a profound drop from your "baseline" dont be worried. There can be a relation between hypokalemia and diabetes, but you sound like your managing your diabetes well tells me that you need not be concerned about it. Generally type 2 diabetics dont take insulin, but if you do then that could explain your low potassium. The fact that your a1c was good is a good indicator that your diabetes is being managed properly. Do you take any other medications? Some medication like hydrochlorothiazide can lower potassium. Hope you do well.
