you may be able to get to the point where your blood sugars are normal, but that&#039;s the goal of any diabetic.  that doesn&#039;t mean you&#039;re cured.  it means you have excellent control.

as far a diabetes killing you, it doesn&#039;t kill anyone.  it&#039;s the complications that do people in.  you greatly cut your risk of complications by sticking to the plan that your healthcare team gives you.

It sounds like you&#039;re off to a good start.  keep up with the diet and exercise, see your doctor regularly.  there&#039;s absolutely no reason you can&#039;t live a long and healthy life.</description>

Ok, last questions first! We do not die of diabetes or high glucose levels. We die of heart disease, liver disease, kidney disease, but not diabetes.

It is too worth it to live! There are thousands of us fighting the high glucose levels. You can do it too.

I do know how depressing this is and then too, you have small children so you must be active!

I follow the South Beach Living phase 2 food plan and have for more than 20 years. It is very low carb, sufficient protein and fat. You can lose weight on it along with chasing small children around the area. I walk an hour each day as fast as I can. The milage builds with time.

The diabetes will never go away, but you can gain control of the glucose levels and your weight.

I am a grandmother who would rather sit on the floor weaving than going for a walk!!! But knowing I must walk every day, I resist the urge to just sit and weave. Learn weaving! It is so meditative and you can just work all your frustrations and depressions away making baskets or blankets and rugs.

Put a picture of your babies on the fridge and work hard to live to see their children! Yes, It is so worth the efforts!</description>

YES yes yes!  I have known many people, including my own sister who had type 2 diabetes (also triggered as gestational diabetes) and completely and totally reversed it.  She had gone so far she was on insulin and had been diagnosed as diabetic over ten yrs and now she takes nothing.  It isn&#039;t easy, but it can be done.  Don&#039;t listen or take heed of any doctor that tells you it can&#039;t be cured because I swear on my life I have seen type 2 diabetes completely resolved by a change in diet and exercise.  For Native Americans, I believe there is a group out there that can educate you on a way of eating that is more similar to your natural heritage diet and it has had great results.  But in the meantime, no sugar, and cut way back on the carbs.  Good luck and good for you sticking to your diet with no cheating.  The metformin is practically useless but it is what you have for now.  Google about Native American diabetic diet and you may find the group.  They were basically encouraging a diet of veggies and lean beef.</description>

I would recommend losing the weight anyway for overalll health benefits. Breathing, cholesteral, lifespan, energy, etcetera. Good luck to and best of health to you and yours.</description>
