Sorry to say, but you need to see a doctor. I have been a diabetic for 20 years and 228 has never been an acceptable blood sugar. Don't be scared though. Even if you are diabetic now, you can still live a normal life. There is life after diabetes!!! Smart of you to keep checking your blood sugars. If you can't get in to see the doctor right away...keep checking and keep track of the readings. This is valuable information for the doctor. Good Luck!

You should get tested at your Doctors office eat an hour before you go to the Dr so he can see what your results are after you have eaten. But there is no reason to be afraid unless you ignore it then it could cause problems for you.

Please don't be scared, but do go to a doctor. It is normal for a person's bg to rise after a meal, but not to 228. That's the way the body reacts to food, your blood glucose rises, but your body produces insulin to keep it from rising too high. When you are diabetic, your body either does not produce enough insulin, or your body is unable to use the insulin that it does produce.

Take bg readings throughout the day and bring your results to your doctor.

Remember that diabetes is only life-threatening when not controlled. And the sooner you get diagnosed, the sooner you can get your blood sugar under control.

Hi,
What did you eat for dinner? I'm not a doctor but I have been an insulin dependant diabetic for 17 years. How have you been feeling lately? Have you been having to the bathroom alot and drinking alot of water lately? If your blood sugar is that high, its defineatly a possibility you may have diabetes. Try not to be to scared. Make an appt to go to the Dr. as soon as you can so that you can know whats going on. Good luck and take care

You should make an appointment as soon as possible. The longer you wait the more damage you high blood sugar can do to your other organs.

you need to get tested. A normal person's blood sugar should never raise after eating....ever....I work in an ER and we see this all the time. You are at HIGH risk...
