I am pregnant, My blood sugar is 145, is that ok?
chelsea c asked:
I was feeling a little tired, dizzy, and all of a sudden my vision blurred. Someone in my family is diabetic and has a blood testing device. I checked my blood sugar and it was 145. Is that ok. I have been checked for gestational diabetes, my test came out like 108, I know that is normal, but I am afraid things may have changed since then.
by the way the test that came out 145 was atleast 2 hours after eating a meal and another hour later I tested it again and it was 168.

I would definitely have it rechecked by your doctor. It sounds like you might be right.

you had better watch what you eat. follow a strick diet that is good for you and your baby.
we had this borderline and the mexican and the east indians around here at the clinics just did not care at all. they had figues on the 300’s plus.
Sad thing is our tax dollars pay for their ignorance. We followed a healthy diet to a T.
Hope this helps

That sounds a little high to me. Ask for a glucose check.

The symptoms you describe are indicative of diabetes. Did you check your blood sugar immediately after eating? You should wait at least 2 hours after eating before testing your blood sugar.
I think you are right – something changed since you last were tested for gestational diabetes. You need to call your O.B. first thing in the morning – if your vision has not cleared up or you are still dizzy tonight – go to the emergency room – do not wait.
Bless you.

145 is a little high, but how long had it been since you had last eaten. A number of facts need to be considered. Had you just drank a glass of juice, or eaten something sweet, or just eaten a meal…or a piece of fruit? If the answer is yes to any of these questions, then a blood sugar level of 145 would not necessarily mean that you have gestational diabetes. Try testing your sugar levels before and after you eat. If your sugar levels consistently run high, then you may want to be retested. Good luck to you and best wishes with the birth of your baby!

Go to your doctor as soon as you can. Beside your blood sugar you should also check your blood pressure. Some women get hypertension during their pregnancy.

Go to your Dr. now and tell him exactly what you told us and ask him for a bs test now and also a glucose tolerance test. Things might have changed since the last one.

You have not mentioned the timing of the Blood test whether it is being done at Fasting, Post Prandial or Random ( Timing is necessary). Since the Blood sugar level varies with the above timings.
