Well it depends on which test and whether the doctor's office have the ability to process the results in the office or do they send out their lab work. You could test you blood sugar on a home monitor and get the results in 5 seconds. In my doctor's office, the nurse draws my blood first and then puts me in the room. The doctor has the results of my HbA1C before he walks in to see me.

<a href="http://mycaffeinatedcontent.com">Create a video blog</a>

if your fasting blood sugar is elevated you could be diagnosed during that office visit. however a normal blood sugar does not rule out the possibility of having dm remember the goal in treatment of diabetes is to attain a normal blood sugar but this unfortunately does not eliminate the diagnosis. what are your risk factors are you overweight does diabetes occur in your family. your doctor may want to perform other tests besides a fasting glucose he may want to perform a glycosylated hemoglobin which reflects your average blood sugar over the past few weeks, he or she may ask you to keep log of your blood sugars at home and return in a couple of weeks.

<a href="http://kansieo.com">diabetic testing</a>

Depends on how the test is performed and where they send it. Even if it gets sent out to a lab, most labs offer 24 hour turnaround on glucose tests. These types of panels usually get tested en masse earlier in the evening and are reported out overnight. You should know something the next day, or the day after at the very latest.

It does take a few days, but if you know someone with a glucose reader you could find out instantly...

If your fasting blood glucose (you haven't eaten for awhile, i.e. when you first wake up) is greater than 126mg/dL you have abnormal levels.

If your blood glucose 2 hrs after you eat are greater than 200mg/dL you have a problem.

Lastly, if you are diagnosed w/ Type 2 Diabetes please don't delay on making the essential life style changes. If you think its bad now, believe me it WILL get worse. My dad was diagnosed 10years ago, and now he cannot walk (due to neuropathy~related to DM Type 2), and he is on kidney dialysis 3 days a week to keep him alive. Oh yes, and he is blind. I am not trying to scare you, but I am letting you know my own personal heart break in hopes that it will help you. If you are pre-diabetic, get on it and you can reverse it! If you are normal, than keep up the good work, and keep that weight off!
