How can I be a month farther along?

Casey B asked:

I am 31w and 2d pregnant, or so I thought. I had an ultrasound today to make sure the baby is growing, just a simple precaution b/c I have hypothyroidism. My pregnancy has been great, close to perfect no diabetes, all tests came back normal. My ultrasound revealed that the baby is measuring 35 weeks. I know a couple weeks is normal variation. Anyone know if something could be wrong. How could he be measuring 4 weeks difference when hes been right on target the whole pregnancy?

Ultrasounds done later on in your pregnancy have a great chance of being off.

I measured bigger starting around 28 weeks when my doctor started doing fundal measurements. At that point I was measuring 30 weeks and at my 32 week appointment I was measuring 35 weeks. All it turned out to be was me being further along than expected because my son was born at 39 weeks and weighed only 7 lbs. 3 oz. Not the HUGE baby we were expecting!

Your LMP may have been off or your baby could just be bigger. Either way it’s nothing to worry about as long as everything else has been running smoothly thus far.

ultra sounds arn’t actualy as acurit as people think. the doctor kept telling me my baby would only way about 5 pounds at birth and that she would have a small head but she was perfectly normal when she was born so it could be a mistake on your doctors part or posably you mis calculated your conception date

some baby measure bigger dont mean that they are weeks older. and in other case u can be week more along. U/s give u a guess it’s not 100%. To me it may seam ur baby is just a big baby that’s about it .
