i am on the fence line right now. one more number up i would have had it, but my dr said even if i did get it it doesnt change anything. he said that depending on how severe it is but even if you have it you still will have a normal pregnancy. so he said even if i have it i am still low risk and can still deliver with no problems. depending on how bad it is is what determines what needs done as far as meds go when delivering.

It’s no reason to be scared. My mom had gestational diabetes with me. I was still a small baby, all my mom had to do was watch her diet and make sure she exercised regularly. If you do have it, you’ll most likely get rid of it as soon(or very shortly after) you give birth. If you watch your diet you and baby will be fine. Even if you have severe GD, it only means that you will gain more weight than usual and you may need a c-section because the baby is too large. But like I said, it’s not reason to be scared, usually you can control it with your diet if you even have it.

I do not have it. But I have several friends that did. You just have to really watch what you eat. The doctor/midwife will give you all the info you need. It really is nothing to worry or stress over, a lot of women develop this. The only thing I have heard negative wise is that the baby was a little more on the hefty side when born :P Good luck and don’t stress!

Don’t worry about it. I failed the one hour test by 2 points and then passed the 3 hour test with normal levels. It happens to a lot of women (and it has happened to a lot of women on here). If you hardly failed the first test, then the chances of having gestational diabetes is slim, if you failed with a high number then your chances are greater.

Don’t stress over this. Even if it turns out you do have it, you will talk to a nutritionist and the majority of the time, food and nutrition is the best way of dealing with diabetes while pregnant. Basically, the only thing is you’ll have to test your levels 3 times a day and that can get a little annoying but it is managable.

    Good Luck!

I had digestinal diabetes when I was pregnant with both my children. It isn’t anything to worry needlessly over but there are some definite percautions one needs to take. The one to talk to is your doctor. As with any pregnancy you will need to take care of your self and and pay extra attention to your health.
