diabetic – boils?

i have been a diabetic for over 30 years . i have occasionally gottens boils in only the ******* area. in the last year, the boils have become more frequent. i am 150 lbs, female, and take 15 units of “humulin n” twice a day. blood tests have been running 80-120 in the am (fasting) but have been running over 200 after about 4 hours. the boils are gross and embarrasing, is there a way to find out wht is causing them and how to prevent them??YUK!

    They are very common among diabetics. I am not diabetic but I have had them on the inner thigh. Make sure you are not wearing anything that is chaffing on your thigh. One thing you can try to prevent them is to make sure to wash the area with soap and warm water during the day if you get a chance (other than just once a day). One tip I learned which prevents having to have them lanced at the doctors office is Hunt’s Tomato Paste. I know it sounds weird, but there is something in it (Hunt’s brand only) that causes the boils to drain within hours. When you get a boil, put the tomato paste on a large bandage and put it over the area. Leave it on for at least two hours- the longer the better – then take a warm bath. The boil will drain immediately and it will reduce a lot of the pain they cause. Hope this helps at least a little.
