It's not real high but should be re-checked a few times. If you don't trust this Doc, get a second opinion b4 starting any treatments.

I don't think the doctor should have tested you after eating within one and half of hours. To me that makes no sense at all unless he saw or suspected something in earlier tests that he done on you.

Diabetes seems highly unlikely if you ask me!

It does depend on other factors though - like if you presented with other symptoms. But one reading, after eating, of 122 does not make you a diabetic. Those finger ***** testers are not reliable enough for that anyway - the same meter could have read 115 if you'd repeated the test, and then 130 if you repeat it again! Being 2 points over, especially after eating, is NOT enough to worry about.

If I'd tested that soon after eating I'd have been way over that!

Talk to your doctor, but to me it sounds like he's not really sure about what he's doing. Definitely go for follow up tests if he sends you for any - at least that will put your mind at rest.

Do you know any diabetics? It might be good for your peace of mind if you could borrow their meter and do a couple of blood sugar readings yourself. Make sure you have clean hands - many a diabetic has freaked out at a horrible reading only to find they have something on their hands causing it :D

IN summary... I wouldn't worry if I were you. Worth looking into just in case, but I'd say you have about a 1% chance of actually being diabetic at this point in time!

Interesting that you got one yes and one no from others on this question. It doesn't sound too high to me. What I would do is get a fasting test and find out for sure.

Apparently your Doctor does know what they are talking about. The average blood sugar level should be between 85 and 120 at the highest. If you blood work came back at 122, an Hour and half after you ate, you need not worry. There are some symptom to keep in mind. Heavy urinating, being thirsty all the time, dizziness, and being constantly tired. If you sit around the house for hours on end with no physical activity for a long period of time, I.E. 1-2 years and become a flab monster weighing over 330 lbs. you might want to consider yourself a diabetic.

I have been a diabetic for 10 yrs.

You should ask the doctor that was concerned that your blood sugar was high these questions. I'm sure he was looking at other factors besides just your blood sugar level to make his determination and can probably give you the best explanations.

your doctor will tell you, either you are not and your just blowing it out of proportion or your doctor is checking to make sure or not, they could get in trouble for saying you are and it ends up you aren't.
